Importance of Learning Quran With Tajweed

The Holy Quran is the precise words of Allah SWT that He revealed as an reliable source of regulation for the humanity to spend their lives according to the guidance of the Holy Quran. Quran has guidance and clear commandments for mankind. Allah SWT says in the holy Quran: “…And recite the Quran with measured recitation.” [Quran 73:4]

Every Muslim read the holy Quran or at least wants to read the Holy Quran. It is an obligation upon every Muslim to read Quran correctly.

What is Tajweed?

The Arabic word Tajweed linguistically means ‘proficiency’ or ‘doing something well’. It comes from the same root letters as the word Jayyid Or Jawwada, which means ‘good’. When applied to the Quran, it means giving every letter of the Quran its rights and dues of characteristics when we recite the Quran, and observing the rules that apply to those letters in different situations. We give the letters their rights by observing the essential characteristics of each letter. We give them their dues by observing the characteristics of each letter that are present in them some of the time and not present at other times.

When the Quran was revealed, there was no need to learn the Tajweed because people used to speak everyday how Quran was revealed so there was not need to learn Tajweed. When Islam was spearing then scholars made the rules how to read and learn the Quran correctly and it is called Tajweed.

Benefits of Learning Quran With Tajweed

There are various Prophetic narrations also showing us the importance of Tajweed. Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, was asked about the recitation of the Prophet and she described it as a recitation: “Clearly-distinguished, letter by letter”.
